I’m a little late to the New Year’s Resolutions post party, but better late than never, right?
I love the new year and people’s excitement about setting new goals, and becoming better versions of themselves. On the other hand, I loathe the negative peeps with their “same year, same shit’ memes,” you know the one with Robert Downey Jr. rolling his eyes. I’m all about setting goals (small & large) and working towards them. Having goals gives me a sense of direction, and then the gift of achievement. I sometimes fall short (gasp! The humanity!), but never quit setting new ones and trying again for the old ones. I don’t usually share, but I think this year if I do, I’ll be held accountable, and I aim to please. Here are my resolutions for 2018…

rn

Travel more, leave my city and work behind at least one weekend a month. Don’t get me wrong, I know we vacation hard but the stretches between big trips seem far too long. I want to make memories and hit that refresh button more often. I want half of those trips to be just Ever and I, which leads me to my 2nd resolution…

rn

Spend more time with my husband. Although we work together, you would be surprised at the amount of time we see each other in office. I leave early to tend to House of Posh Tots, I then pick up Elle and transport her to her after school activities. We do eat dinner together, but I want more time together out of our routine. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all about my routine (which allows me to get so much done in a day), but I need to schedule unscheduled time slots (double negative if I’ve heard of one).

rn

Get my abs back, simple and not really necessary but I want those things back. This C-section has really changed my midsection, and I don’t love it. I will say that the older I get, the more relaxed I am about my body, but I still like to constantly push my fitness. It’s not as much physical as it is mental now, I like the way working out makes me feel, and the way is super starts my day (especially at 5:00 in the morning).

rn

Remodel our backyard, we entertain a lot, and our backyard is very outdated. I want an outdoor kitchen (mostly for Ever). Ever likes to cook outside, and I like him to, but what I don’t like is sharing my indoor space with his myriad of cooking tools, and having him come in and out while serving. This bothers me now more than ever since I finally remodeled my kitchen into my dream kitchen. I need it to last.

rn

Make Elle pull her weight.  I really need to make her do more stuff for herself & give her more responsibilities.  I’m impatient and I find myself doing stuff for her just to get it done faster but I’m not doing her any favors in the long run.  She’s at the perfect age to earn her keep.

rn

Make a play room or play space for the kids. Elle has toys everywhere, and now with a 2nd child, I can only envision more of them. I want to design a space for both of them and for all their friends to play, something bright, colorful, and fun. Also, something far out of design from my current home’s décor!

rn

De-clutter daily; my car, my office, my home. I hate clutter, but still seem to find myself immersed in it. I need to stay on top of it by throwing things away or putting them in their place. It’s so easy to let things go until they have gone too far. Also, buying less junk really helps, only getting things that you really need when you need them. This is something I really need to work on. I buy and hoard more than I’d like to admit.

I started big to small but all these resolutions are all just as important. We’re a few days into 2018 and if you haven’t set any goals it’s never too late and if you need some help, I’ll set some easy ones for you!
1.) Drink more water
2.) Get more sleep
3.) Spend time with the ones you love
4.) Do more stuff that makes you happy and less of what doesn’t
5.) Complain less

Boom! A new better you! You’re welcome! Ha! Wishing you this best year yet!
XOXO Linda
