I’ll be honest, I’ve never dieted. I’ve always been pretty proud of my eating habits. I’m not vegetarian, vegan, keto, paleo, or anything of the sort. I’ve always eaten everything, but based the majority of my diet on real food. I do eat the processed stuff in moderation, but like everyone, I have seasons where my eating is overindulgent and has left me feeling less than stellar. This past holiday season was exactly that. I will say I regret nothing, but I had more food and a gazillion more flutes of champagne than should be consumed in a 2 week period. I’ve always wanted to try a fast. I’ve read all the benefits in cellular renewal and overall health, and knew this was the best time to try it. I’ve heard great things about “Prolon,” the 5-day fasting mimicking diet, and decided to try it out. I got in contact with them we immediately pushed forward. This was my “Prolon” experience….
Day 1: I felt fine through out the day. I think I was over food from the holidays and that made that day easy (I had reserves). I had all the food, snacks, & teas, and felt satisfied.
Day 2: I enjoyed the L-bar more than the first day. I felt fine most the day, but was feeling the hunger in the early afternoon (which is usually the time I snack hard). I had my afternoon tea (provided in the plan), and it passed. I didn’t eat the soup that night because I was more tired than hungry when we got home from Elle’s dance classes.
Day 3: I felt great, not hungry at all. I enjoyed the kale crackers but forced myself to eat the tomato soup. The soup was actually tasty, and I’m not a huge fan of soup. The afternoon was rough once again. I was hungry. I had picked up fast food the the kids after school, and it smelled so good, but I didn’t touch it (normally I would).
Day 4: I woke up feeling tired with a lack of energy, but after having the L-bar & a few sips of the L-drink, I felt much better. I wasn’t hungry most of the morning. I felt in a weird haze, wondering if this is the “enlightenment” some refer to. Later that afternoon I realized I definitely didn’t feel “enlightened,” just down right cranky & irritable. I had my two soup meals at their appropriate times and called it a night early.
Day 5: I woke up feeling great! I had lots of energy and my midsection looked noticeably flatter. At lunch time I made my soup but it ended up getting cold and thickened, I couldn’t eat it, a decision I would regret because I couldn’t stomach that soup portion for dinner and by late afternoon I was starving and irritable. I went to bed early and couldn’t wait for it to be over.
What I learned from my Prolon experience was that I tend to mindless eat. I eat the kids leftovers just to eat them, things like chicken nuggets and fries from places I don’t even like. The Prolon is plant based, and I’m definitely going to try to make the bulk of my diet plant-based. I probably will never give up my seafood because I truly enjoy it. I’ve been a big seafood lover since I was a kid. It’s also made me much more conscious of my portions; we definitely need a lot less food than we think. I don’t know if I lost any weight because I don’t weigh myself or even own a scale (wait, I think Ever has one that has never had batteries), but I do feel like I lost some weight, especially in my midsection. I look leaner in the mirror, too. I can’t lie, I definitely like what I see. I’m also proud of my self control and will power, because it’s definitely mind over matter. I’d definitely do Prolon again, which is recommended once a month for 3 months, then twice a year for maintenance.
Tips:
1.) Plan your Prolon fast. Definitely do not do it if you have a lot going on because your energy & mood may not be at its best. I was very cranky towards the end.
2.) Do it right, or don’t do it all. It is designed with years of research & experience. It’s tailored to work if followed correctly. You can do it, I promise!
3.) Positive mindset. Attitude is everything, just remember that you’re doing something great for your mind & body, and you can do it because you deserve to be functioning at your best.
If you want to try it and get $25 off your box, use promo code “BABYELLESTYLE” and this link to order! https://glnk.io/x9oz/babyellestyle I know it seems pricey, but you’re paying for a well programmed diet that is made with Convenience in mind. If you add up what you eat out in a week, I’m sure it’s comparable. Good luck, and I promise you can do it!!!!
